The graph below is entirely depressing. At the moment we pay almost R13/l of petrol... This is likely to hit R15 by the end of the year. Might not seem much in the grander scheme of things when looking at fuel prices in other countries - but here in SA the price of food is closely linked with the petrol price. This also affects electricity prices, all service prices, rentals and interest rates - all are part of the domino effect brought on by increasing petrol prices. Same goes for public transport and eventually taxes.
These prices keep increasing at this pace and soon enough very few of us will be able to actually buy food as well as clothe ourselves and maintain a decent roof over our heads. If only income increased at the same pace.
